Welcome to Spring Term in Year 3
We are looking forward to exploring our Spring Bookshelf and learning how the characters in the stories inspire bravery, cultivate curiosity, and celebrate the virtues that shape a better world. The books chosen highlight the importance of integrity and kindness, encouraging our children to act with honesty and empathy in every situation. They also illustrate the strength that comes from citizenship, both in standing up for what’s right and in fostering a sense of community. Through tales of courage and gratitude, these books remind us that even the smallest acts of goodness can spark meaningful change, and that by embracing these values, we all have the potential to make a difference.
Our aim is for your children to become confident learners and to carry their love of learning throughout their lives.

Spring Bookshelf

During the Spring Term in Year 3, we will read a variety of inspirational and carefully selected texts. We will continue to develop our narrative writing skills whilst writing a character description by reading ‘Krindlekrax’ which provides a brilliant opportunity to discuss bravery and citizenship. We will then delve into ‘Rumaysa: A Fairytale’ where we will discuss the integrity and kindness and create our own letters and narrative stories. Linking with our learning in History, we will use the story of ‘Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx’ to inspire our narrative diary entries, before completing a non-chronological report about Tutankhamun.
