Admissions deadline for the academic year 2024/25: 15 January 2024

For entry into Pre-School

Please visit this page for details of how to apply to Woodford Pre-School. This a separate admissions process and policy to admissions for a place in Reception onwards.

How can I apply for a Reception place?

Applications are made to the Local Authority in which you reside. The applications process opens in August and the deadline is 15th January for starting school in the following September.

How can I apply for a Pre-School place?

Please visit our dedicated Pre-School page here for information on admissions.

Can my child who is already at another primary school move to Woodford Primary School?

No. Brand new schools open one year group at a time. Stockport MBC has deemed there is a need for this new school due to the increase in Pre-School age children in the local area. Woodford Primary School will only be offering places to 30 Reception children and 20 Pre-School children from September 2022 and will grow one year group at a time.

How does the admissions criteria work?

The school has 30 Reception places. If more than 30 applications are received, priority will be given to children in accordance with the oversubscription criteria which can be found in the Admissions Policy below. If a tie-break is necessary to determine which children are admitted then children living nearest the school will be given priority. Woodford Primary School does not have a catchment area.

How will I be told if my application is successful?

You will be informed by email on National Offer Day: 16th April 2024

What happens if my application is unsuccessful?

All parents have a statutory right of appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel. Information on the appeals process is provided in the Admissions Policy below.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, and it will be open to any parent to ask for their child’s name to be placed on the waiting list, following an unsuccessful application. Vacant places will be allocated to children on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria, found in the Admissions Policy below.

Does a place in the Pre-School guarantee a place in Reception?

No. As with all Pre-Schools attached to Stockport primary schools, the nursery that your child attends will not affect your application for a Reception place.
