We have had a wonderful first term at Woodford Primary School for all our pupils and school community. To end a brilliant term, we have wrapped up some of the highlights from the last few months…

Secret Reader:

Pictures from secret reader with the parent reading to all the pupils.

Reception and Year One at Woodford have had a great time with all our secret readers every week. We have had parents of some of the pupils, come in and read to our pupils, whilst keeping it a secret. In reception, the pupils are given 3 clues to guess whose parent will be coming in to read. We appreciate all 6 parents who have taken part and all the pupils have massively enjoyed themselves.

Forest School:

Pupils playing with a wheelbarrow and taking part in forest school activities.

Forest School is an educational approach to outdoor learning and is designed to inspire all individuals through positive outdoor experiences. Our Forest School Base Camp is located on our school grounds. Every academic year, each class at Woodford Primary School has a series of Forest School sessions encompassing art and creative skills, as well as bushcraft, den building, bug hunting – usually rounded off by the obligatory hot chocolate!

Nativity:

Pupils all dressed up in their nativity costumes.

Each year our pupils really look forward to the nativity and they always embody the characters. Whilst this is an exciting and interactive performance, it is also for our pupils to learn all about advent and the nativity. They all did a fabulous job this year with lots of energy and worked hard learning their lines.

Autumn Walks for Early Year Foundation Stage Pupils:

Reception taking part in Forest School

We have been taking our pupils on some autumn walks where they get the chance to get some fresh air, burn some energy whilst playing with their friends and being around nature and learning about their surroundings.

Reception visit to the Avro Museum:

Reception have been on a school trip to the Avro Museum this term where they had a guided tour and access to all the cockpits and learnt some history behind the planes and war. This was really interactive, and all the pupils really enjoyed themselves.

That’s a wrap!

From all of us at Woodford Primary School, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
